Have you blurred the the left and right edges in pp? It seems the focus is in the form of circle rather than across a horizontal plane.
I didn’t blur the edges. I used both extension tubes (which Canon don’t recommend due to potential ‘focus issues’ , crikey) so I knew there would be some drop off. I was aiming for a blurred wash of colour with a narrow focus on the mid petal edges but it didn’t quite work out. The lack of detail on the top left still bothers me but I live and learn
