Young Least Weasel (Mustela nivalis).

The weasel is Britain's smallest carnivore, with adults ranging between 17 - 25 cm in length. This little fellow was about 14cm long and part of a ten week old litter of four kits. Weasels are frenetically active both day and night as they must consume a quarter to a third of their body weight every day to survive. My tiny friend above was no exception and proved difficult to photograph.

  2. Nice picture… but probably difficult to take… did you try to tame this little friend??

  3. Thank you for the kind comments, Marcie and Denis.

Denis, this was taken at a wildlife centre so I didn’t have to try and tame him. I had to wait quite a while for him to pause for breath long enough to photograph him at that spot, though ;) As you probably know, weasels are extremely fast and active little blighters!
