Robin (Erithacus rubecula).

I took this at Sheffield Park on a typically wintry, English day. I stopped by a bench to change my macro lens and when I looked up, this little robin was perched about 10 inches away. By this time, I had the 100-400mm on and I was spitting feathers (no pun intended) at the lost opportunity. Undeterred, I scooted back ten feet and shot this in an awful hurry, just before the little robin took off. I know it's far from perfect and I hesitated about uploading it but he's just too cute and I can't bear to 'delete' him!

The robin did come back a few times but, by then, the light had gone. He seemed to think I had goodies in my camera bag for him. I usually do carry a variety of bird seed with me but I never thought to bring seed on a landscape shoot. There's a moral in this tale, somewhere ;)
