Male Broad-bodied Chaser (Libellula depressa). Not a great shot. It seems to take me ages to get into 'dragonfly shooting mode' and when I do, the season's almost over!

  1. I think its a good shot. I’ve never seen a black tailed skimmer! It looks like a Tandem Insect! The season has only just started so there’s plenty of time to practice. Yesterday I tried some more shots of the Large Red Damselfly, but with an extension tube attached to the 100-400. The increase in magnification is good, but the resulting narrowness in the depth of field makes it even harder to get good shots, especially of mating pairs. I assume your Large Red Damselfly was taken with the 100mm Macro?

  2. Thanks, David, for pointing out that this is actually a Broad-bodied Chaser! Yes, the Large Red was taken with the 100mm macro.
