The White Dragon tile, symbolizing the 'higher' order of spiritual beings. Originally, White Dragons were blank tiles, with bone on one side and bamboo on the other. More modern sets were manufactured wholly in white (or other neutral colour) but people kept turning the tile over to see which piece they held. As this revealed the tile to the other players, a rectangular border is now usually added to to avoid confusion. The letter P (pai or po, meaning white or blank) or B (bai, meaning white) can sometimes be found in the centre of the bordered tile.
