With the greater use of computers, people have a need to combine their digital photographs with a suitable audio soundtrack.  This is what we term an Audio Visual (AV).

Selsdon Camera Club boasts a thriving AV Group. Its members meet monthly on a Tuesday evening to exchange knowledge with the aim of improving and encouraging the production of digital audio visuals.

Our friendly sessions include the viewing of members’ work, demonstrations on the use of various software available for AV productions and the combined group involvement in production of club entries for competitions.

Recently the Selsdon AV Group have chalked up successes in competitions with other clubs including first place for the club entry in the South London Federation AV Competition and individuals winning Certificates for their work. Come along, it is great fun.

Out and Abouters
Bodiam Castle Reflections by John Gribble (Out & Abouters trip).

The Out and Abouters, within Selsdon Camera Club, organise monthly outings to places of photographic interest. They are held on the second Saturday of each month, with just a few exceptions, where this date clashes with another camera club event. On these occasions, they are normally held on the first Saturday in the month. Our venues are displayed in the club’s programme and all members, their partners and friends, are most welcome.

These outings are very sociable and informal affairs, with breaks for morning coffee and lunch, providing an opportunity to talk cameras and photography. It also presents an opportunity to get to know our fellow members. The venues are locations reasonably close to Selsdon, and are reached by car or public transport. National Trust and similar properties are visited, together with walks in London and adjacent towns.

These outings were started some ten years ago now, when a group of new members formed the ‘Fairly New Group’ to go out together to take photographs. The group was soon joined by other members and it then became known as the ‘Out and Abouters’.

Annual Exhibition 2011

This year we were privileged to welcome to our Exhibition The Mayor, Graham Bass & Mayoress, Mrs Jean Bass, thanks to the good offices of our returning friend, Councillor Lynne Hales.

With the continued high standard of work exhibited by the Members our visitors commented that ‘the diverse range of work was a delight to see, so much so that it made it difficult to choose a winner’. Similar comments were made by our ‘Best Panel’ Judge Carol Speight ARPS DPAGB APAGB. However, in both categories a final winner was arrived at and the presentation of the Winning Trophies and Hon. Mention Certificates was carried out by the Mayor and Mayoress.

Ian Brash and Audrey Wright
The ‘Martin Faiers Exhibition Trophy’ for ‘Best Print’ went to Ian Brash for ”Winter Trees”. Unfortunately Ian was unable to be with us on the day and therefore the Trophy and also an Hon. Mention certificate were presented to Ian by Audrey Wright at a subsequent club evening.

Mayor Graham Bass and Jack Bates
This year Audrey Healey presented to the Club a new engraved glass bowl trophy for ‘Best Panel’. This splendid new award, ‘The Michael Healey Trophy’ was presented by the Mayor to Jack Bates for ”The Internet”.

Alan White, Mayor Graham Bass, Lady Mayoress Mrs Jean Bass, Judge Carol Speight ARPS DPAGB APAGB and Councillor Lynne Hale
As with last year Lynne Hales undertook the Raffle draw which included prizes generously donated by The Horseshoe, Waitrose, Majestic Wine, and Members, for which we thank them.

All in all, another successful Exhibition for the Club.

Thank you again for your support.
